From Needle to Glass
I’m Dimi – founder and artist at 2Brothers Ink. For years, I’ve been telling stories under the skin with needles. Every tattoo I create is an expression of personality, character, and craftsmanship. And I wanted to bring this very attitude into a completely new form: liquid form. That’s how the idea for a rum was born, one that doesn’t just taste good – but speaks. One that has personality. One that tells a story.
Old Dragon is my statement in bottled form. For people who take taste as seriously as individuality.
Why Rum – and why Banana?
For me, rum was never just a spirit. It’s warmth, depth, history – and at the same time open to creativity. The decision for a banana flavor was not by chance: it’s a sweet, gentle note that still brings character. And it surprised me – in the best sense. That’s exactly what I wanted to achieve with my customers: surprise. Inspire. Stay.
The first attempts were made in a small circle – the taste was refined, tested, discarded, rethought. Until everything was just right. The body. The sweetness. The finish. I wanted to create a rum that could be drunk neat – even for people who don’t usually drink spirits neat. And I personally count myself among them. And the feedback: a bullseye.
Born in the Year of the Dragon
The name Old Dragon is no coincidence. I was born in the Chinese Year of the Dragon – a symbol of strength, change, and individuality. Qualities that are found in my rum just as much as in my artistic everyday life. The golden dragon skull on the label is therefore more than just design: it is a sign. For what Old Dragon stands for.
From Collector’s Item to Signature Bottle
The first edition sold out quickly. Within four hours, once the first people got wind of it. Intended as a collector’s edition, it showed that there is a demand for true character. Now Old Dragon is back – in its final look, with the same core. Same soul. New guise.
And yet, every bottle has remained a small work of art.
For me, Old Dragon is not the end of a creative path – but a new beginning. For true enjoyment. For honest stories. And for everyone who appreciates something special.
