There are moments that feel like a small milestone. For me, as the founder and the face behind Old Dragon Rum, the interview with Honest & Rare definitely counts as one of them. It is all the more gratifying for me that the story behind Old Dragon is not only told there but celebrated.
From the tattoo studio into the glass
“I no longer wanted standard, but something that is truly different.” – that is how I summed it up in our conversation. And that is exactly the essence of Old Dragon Rum: a premium spiced rum born from passion, not from the concept of a big brand.
My roots are in the tattoo and pinstriping craft – art forms that are as precise as they are emotional. This demand for individuality, craftsmanship, and expressiveness can be found in every bottle of Old Dragon today.
Premium Spiced Rum with standards
Honest & Rare sums it up aptly: Old Dragon Rum polarizes because it doesn’t fit into the “standard spiced rum” category. And that is intentional.
With genuine sugarcane molasses, vanilla beans from Madagascar, and a natural banana distillate, Old Dragon deliberately stands out from artificially flavored products. Additionally, it features long-aged rums from Jamaica (min. 5 years) and Venezuela (min. 3 years) – two countries of origin that represent depth and elegance.

Why the dragon?
The interview was, of course, also about the dragon, the heart of my branding. “The dragon symbolizes strength, mystery, and adventure – exactly what rum radiates for me.” There is also a personal connection: I was born in the Year of the Dragon, and so the dragon is a symbol of my creative energy – be it in tattooing, pinstriping, or indeed with rum.
From the glass to an experience
Honest & Rare emphasizes: Rum is more than just a drink. It can tell stories, evoke emotions, and connect people. That is exactly my goal with Old Dragon.
