No more boring mulled wine: Here comes the “Hot Dragon” (Recipe)

When it gets cold and dark outside, everyone automatically reaches for mulled wine. Don’t get us wrong, mulled wine is okay. But “okay” isn’t our standard. Do you want something that really warms you up? Something that isn’t just sweet, but has depth and character?

Then forget the cartons from the supermarket. Let us introduce you to the “Hot Dragon”. Your new weapon against cold fingers and boring winter evenings.

Why Old Dragon is perfect for hot drinks 

Most spirits lose their character when heated. Not the Old Dragon. Our base notes of vanilla, caramel, and the natural sweetness of banana really bloom with the heat. In combination with hot apple juice, it creates a flavor that reminds you of warm apple pie with vanilla sauce – just with 40% proof.

The Recipe: Hot Dragon Punch 

This recipe is so simple that you can still make it even when the party is already in full swing.

Ingredients (per cup):

• 4-5 cl Old Dragon Premium Spiced Rum
• 150 ml Naturally cloudy apple juice (Please use naturally cloudy for the full flavor!)
• 1 cinnamon stick
• 1 slice of orange or lemon
• Optional: 1 star anise for visual appeal and spice

Preparation in 5 minutes:

1. Warm up: Put the apple juice into a pot together with the cinnamon stick and the orange slice. Heat everything up, but do not let it boil! (We want to keep the vitamins and aromas).
2. Let it steep: Remove the pot from the heat briefly and let the spices steep in the hot juice for 2-3 minutes.
3. The Dragon arrives: Now add the Old Dragon Rum. Important: The rum must not boil under any circumstances, otherwise the alcohol will evaporate. Simply stir it into the hot liquid.
4. Serving: Pour the Hot Dragon into a heat-resistant mug or a thick glass. Leave the cinnamon stick inside as a garnish. Done.

The Hot Dragon is proof that winter drinks don’t have to be complicated. Perfect for an evening by the fire pit, after a walk, or simply on the couch.
