1. The classic “Rum-Verschnitt” (Rum blend): In the past (especially in the north/Flensburg), for customs reasons, a small amount of real rum was mixed with a lot of neutral alcohol and water. The result was often harsh and only suitable for grog in winter.
2. The modern “German Craft Rum”: This is the league we play in. Here, real, high-quality rum is imported (or rarely distilled from imported molasses ourselves) and then aged, blended, and refined right here in Germany.

Why we “compose” our rum in Germany
