Questions for Dimi – The Guy Behind the Dragon
Old Dragon is more than just a rum – it’s a piece of me. But who am I really? And what’s actually behind the golden dragon skull on the bottle? Here are seven personal answers that show you why Old Dragon is the way it is.
1. Who’s behind Old Dragon?
I’m Dimi – artist, founder of 2Brothers Ink and the guy who one day thought: “Why not make a rum that feels like my tattoos?”
So that’s exactly what I did. An idea became a drink – with character, depth, and soul.
2. Why is the Rum Called Old Dragon?
I was born in the Chinese Year of the Dragon – and the dragon is more than just a zodiac sign for me. It represents strength, transformation, independence.
“Old Dragon” is my homage to this energy – and my way of sharing it. In liquid form.
3. What’s Special about the Taste?
Old Dragon has a fine natural banana note that blends smoothly into the strong body of aged rums.
What makes it special: It tastes just as strong neat as it does mixed, which few rums can do.
Even people who say “I don’t usually drink rum neat” say after the first sip: “Okay, this is different.”
4. What Does a Tattoo Studio Have to Do with Rum?
More than you think.
Both require passion, craftsmanship, patience – and a clear style.
A good tattoo is like a good rum: It stays. It’s personal. And it carries a story.
That’s why Old Dragon was also developed right in the studio – among needles, customers, and creativity.
5. How Was the Rum Created?
Not over a weekend.
The first recipe took months – with tastings, adjustments, setbacks, learnings.
I didn’t want an interchangeable rum, but one that tastes like me. And doesn’t overwhelm – but invites.
The result is a blend of Venezuelan and Jamaican rum, aged, powerful yet smooth.
6. How should Old Dragon be Drunk Best?
However you want – but mindfully.
Whether neat in a tasting glass, with ice in a tumbler, or as a fine long drink with good cola: Everything is allowed as long as you appreciate it.
The dragon adapts – but remains itself.
7. Is there more to Come?
Definitely.
I still have ideas in my head – stay tuned! No matter what it ends up being:
But one thing always remains the same: Honesty. Style. Character.
Old Dragon isn’t just a project. It’s a part of me.
Thanks for reading this far. Maybe we’ll see each other sometime – in the studio or while raising a toast. The dragon is ready. 🐉🥃
